Blue-winged Warbler (Setophaga striata)
- HABITAT - Blue-winged Warblers range includes eastern USA and a few come up as high as southern Ontario. They prefer brushy hillsides, bogs, overgrown pastures, stream and woodland edges.
- DIET -Blue-winged Warblers eat insects and spiders.
- FACTS - Blue-winged Warblers have expanded northward as landscapes changed with logging and development. This northward expansion increased contact and hybridization with Golden-winged Warblers. This hybridization and competition contributes to Golden-winged population declines.In an area where we seen Golden-winged Warblers, a Blue-winged Warbler seems to have taken over the territory
