Blackburnian Warbler (Setophaga fusca)
- HABITAT -Blackburnian Warbler nests in mature coniferous and mixed forest and often occurs in highest densities in old-growth forests. At the end of the breeding season, they often leave the conifers to forage in virtually any woody habitat. Their range is southeastern boreal forest in Canada and in the Appalachians and Great Lakes region. Their wintering grounds in the highlands of southern Central and northwestern South America.
- DIET - The Blackburnian Warbler is primarily insectivorous year-round, but may supplement its diet with fruits in winter and during migration.
- FACTS - The Blackburnian Warbler is the only North American warbler with an orange throat. It is no surprse that the french name is translated to Orange-throated Warbler. They are seldom seen in the summer as they tend to dwell high in the forest canopy. This is evident by most of the images on this page. But when you do finally get a decent view of this beauty, it will, no doubt, be an unforgetable moment.
