Black and White Warbler (Mniotilta varia)
- HABITAT -Black-and-white Warbler habitat includes deciduous and mixed forest, sometimes swampy forests. During migration they prefer parks, gardens, and lawn areas with trees and shrubs. This warbler breeds in mature forests of northern and eastern North America and winters from the extreme southern United States to the Peruvian Andes.
- DIET - The Black-and-white Warbler acts much like nuthatches and creepers. They creep along tree trunks and branches, probing the bark for insects and spiders with its slightly downcurved bill.
- FACTS - Black-and-white Warblers are territorial and will defend territories during the breeding season and sometimes in the winter too. During migration and winter, black-and-white warblers become social and may join feeding flocks with other bird species such as Chickadees, sparrows and other warblers.
