Black-throated Blue Warbler (Setophaga caerulescens)
- HABITAT - Black-throated Blue Warbler breeding range includes deciduous and mixed coniferous forests in eastern North America from southern Ontario to Nova Scotia in the north and extends southward along the Appalachian Mountains as far south as northern Georgia. Over the cooler months, it migrates to the Caribbean and Central America.
- DIET - In the summer, Black-throated Blue Warblers search leaves and twigs for spiders, flies, and caterpillars, often taking them from the underside of vegetation in the mid level of the forest. In winter, continues to eat many insects, but also takes seeds, berries, small fruits, and flower nectar.
- FACTS - We think that the male Black-throated Blue Warbler is one of the most beautiful warbler with its midnight blue back, black face and throat and pure white chest and belly.
