Lincoln's Sparrow (Melospiza lincolnii)
- HABITAT - Lincolns Sparrows breed in boggy areas with tamarack and black spruce; alder and willow thickets. In the winter, they use tropical forests, scrub, pastures, and shrubby fields. Their breeding range is subalpine and montane zones across Canada, Alaska, and the northeastern and western United States. Their wintering range extends from the southern United States down to Mexico and northern Central America.
- DIET - Lincolns Sparrows eat mostly insects and other small invertebrates, plus a some seeds. Their diet in winter is mostly small seeds.
- Facts - Lincoln Sparrows seem to be very solitary and don’t generally join flocks. Any time we have sighted a Lincoln Sparrow, it is always just a single individual.
