Evening Grosbeak (Coccothraustes vespertinus)
- HABITAT - Evening Grosbeaks breed in mature and second-growth coniferous forests of northern North America and the Rocky Mountains. In winter Evening Grosbeaks live in coniferous forest and deciduous forest and occasionally visit suburban areas.
- DIET - In summer, Evening Grosbeaks eat mostly invertebrates. They also eat seeds from the cones of spruce, balsam fir, and pine but also enjoy seeds and fruits of many deciduous trees and shrubs.
- FACTS - With their enormous bills, Evening Grosbeaks can crush seeds that are too large for Common Redpolls and Pine Siskins to open.
