American Pipit (Anthus rubescens)
- HABITAT - The American Pipit breeds in the arctic and alpine tundra across North America and Eurasia. It is known as "American pipit" in North America and "buff-bellied pipit" in Eurasia. American pipit’s habitat in migration and winter is coastal beaches and marshes, short grassy pastures, and other sparsely vegetated habitats across the southern United States south to Central America.
- DIET - American Pipits eat mostly insects and their larvae, spiders, ticks, marine worms and small crustaceans. They occasionally eat seeds and other plant matter, especially in fall and winter.
- FACTS - The American Pipit have a habit of wagging their tails when walking.
