- HABITAT - Like Red-winged Blackbirds, Yellow-headed Blackbird live in wetlands. They spend the summer in the west-central United States and Canada and the winter in the western United States from California to Texas and south to Mexico and Central America..
- DIET - These birds are omnivores, eating both animal and plant foods. They eat mostly aquatic insects in the summer and seeds in the winter months.
- FACTS - We had this female Yellow-headed Blackbird visit our backyard in the spring. She stayed around for a few days and then left to continue her migration. She was a long way from her normal range.
