Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura)
- HABITAT - Mourning Doves prefer open land with a scattering of trees and shrubs for cover and nesting. Mourning Doves are one of the most widespread and adaptable North American birds. They can be found in Canada and all of the lower 48 states, down to Mexico.
- DIET - Mourning doves are primarily seed-eaters including grains, wild grasses, weeds, herbs, and occasionally berries. They are common visitors to backyard bird feeders.
- FACTS - Mourning Doves are the North America’s most popular game bird: hunters kill more than 20 million Doves each year.
