Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres)
- HABITAT - The Ruddy Turnstone breeds on coastal tundra in northwestern Alaska and islands of Canadian Arctic as well as northern parts of Eurasia. They spend their winters on rocky, pebbly, and sandy coasts and beaches on both North American coasts as well as South America, Eurasia, Africa, and Australia.
- DIET - In breeding season Ruddy Turnstone mostly eats insects, spiders, seeds and berries. At other seasons it eats crustaceans, mollusks, worms, sea urchins and small fish.
- FACTS - They are called Turnstones because of their feeding behaviour of inserting bill under stones, shells, etc., and flipping them over to find food underneath.
