European Golden Plover (Pluvialis apricaria)
- HABITAT - European Golden Plover breeds on Arctic tundra, ranging as far west as Iceland and east to Siberia. It Winters in Europe and north Africa. Breeding habitats include open Arctic tundra with wet, boggy areas. During migration and winter, they are found in a variety of open habitats, including coastal areas, mudflats, grasslands, and agricultural fields.
- DIET - European Golden Plovers primarily feed on insects, worms, and other invertebrates. Their diet may also include small crustaceans and plant material.
- FACTS - The European Golden Plover looks very similar to the American Golden Plover.
