Sandhill crane (Antigone canadensis)
- HABITAT - Sandhill Cranes nest in marshes, bogs, wet meadows, prairies, and other wet habitats. They live throughout much of North America and western Siberia.
- DIET - Sandhill cranes are mainly herbivorous, but their diet may very depending on available food. They feed with their bills down to the ground as they root around for seeds and other foods, in the shallows or various upland habitats. They may also eat insects, snails, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals.
- FACTS - In Southern Ontario, Sandhill Cranes are very rare, so it is very exciting when ever we get a sighting.
