Double-crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus)
- HABITAT - Double-crested Cormorant habitat is near rivers and lakes as well as in coastal areas, and is widely distributed across North America. They live in Great Lake and have been nesting inland as well. We have seen small colonies in Algonquin Park.Double-crested Cormorants are colonial waterbirds that bodies of water big enough to support their mostly fish diet. They roost and form breeding colonies on smaller lagoons or ponds, and then fly up to 60 kilometres to feeding areas.

Non-native fish are an important part of the cormorant’s diet. McMaster University Study confirms that cormorants are feeding mostly on problem fish such as round goby and alewife.
- FACTS - Some people don't like Cormorants. They say they eat all the natural resourses, they pollute the environment and they displace natives wildlife. However, thats more like what humans do.
