- Habitat: Wet areas, fens, pannes
- Native/Non-native: Native to Eastern of North America
- Status: Uncommon. Although this is a distinctive plant, it is less often found than the other Ladies' Tresses.
- Grows among grasses and sedges where the ground was flooded in the spring
