- Habitat: Shady forest with rich soils.
- Native/Non-native: Native to Eastern side of North America
- White flowers bloom in late spring.
- The bush provides berries favoured by Thrushe, Pine Grosbeaks and Ruffed Grouse.
- The lower branches take root when they touch the ground which can be an obstacle which can "Hobble" or trip up hikers.
