- Habitat: Fields and open areas, roadside, disturbed land
- Native/Non-native: Native to Europe, northern Africa, and Asia, and introduced in the Americas and Australia
- Hairy biennial wildflower that can grow 2 metres tall. The first year, they are merely a rosette on the ground, the second year they have a tall stock.
